Daily Sunscreen is a MUST!
Regardless of whether it’s overcast outside or whether you have a dark complexion meaning you rarely get sunburned, sunscreen is crucial for anyone who wants to have healthy skin. Just because you don’t need sunglasses doesn’t mean you aren’t still being affected by the sun. The sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate the clouds and still cause detrimental long term consequences to your skin. Make it a habit to never leave the house without using a moisturizer with at least spf 15 in it.
Lotion or Day Cream: Either Will Do
Along with daily sunscreen, daily moisturizing will add years of youthfulness to your complexion and add to your skin’s elasticity. Moisturize once in the morning and once at night and watch a noticeable difference in the health of your skin.
Handle Eyes With Care
Never, never, NEVER rub your eyes with your towel after you finish washing your face. Do you like the look of crow’s feet? Didn’t think so. Always remember that the skin around your eyes is extremely delicate and prone to show signs of mistreatment over time. Pat your face dry instead of rubbing it roughly with your towel. Use your ring finger or pinky to apply your moisturizer to avoid tugging. Trust me, years down the road, you will thank me for this when all your friends have wrinkles around their eyes and you don’t!
Avoid Waterproof Mascara
Waterproof mascara is a no-no. Whenever possible, avoid it at all costs. The ingredients in waterproof mascara that help make it “waterproof” are not good for your delicate eyelashes. On top of that, waterproof mascara is often hard to remove (despite claims that say otherwise). Thus, in attempts to remove the mascara, you may end up removing eyelashes along with it! Obviously, thick full lashes are usually what we are trying to achieve by using mascara, so losing eyelash hairs kinda defeats the purpose, wouldn’t ya say?!
H2O Is The Way To Go!
You’ve heard it PLENTY of times before and that’s because it’s true! There’s often no better home remedy than the good ‘ole 8 glasses of agua a day! You want healthy, flawless skin? Increase your water intake. It really is that simple.
It’s Called “Beauty Sleep” For a Reason
If you are the type that thinks you’re good to go because somehow you manage to function on 4-5 hours of sleep a night, you’re wrong. Just because you can still go to work and still have decent mental capacity on 4 hours of sleep, doesn’t mean your body can actually handle that. It will eventually catch up with you in one way or another, and you can be sure one way will definitely be on your face! Acne, wrinkles, dark circles, dull complexion, these will all become familiar characteristics of your skin if you forsake the value of a good night’s rest. So you might want to think twice the next time you’re having a late night on a week night. Think of that extra drink, as an extra wrinkle!
Cocktail Hour
So, while we’re the subject of a week night cocktail, alcohol can wreak havoc on your skin if you overuse it. Avoid having more than 2-3 drinks a week. I know, that must sound sooo dreary. However, in the long run, your skin will thank you for easing up on the booze.
Just remember, the better you take care of your body and your skin, the better you’ll look 10 years down the road!
