My husband and I bought our first house last October. (Woop Woop!!) It's quite the little fixer upper but with a lot of potential. One of the things that definitely needs to be fixed- or changed I should say- are the aluminum windows. We have some large windows and all of them are old and horrible for insulating warmth. Another thing on the "fix-it" list is our OIL HEATING. Oil heating is pretty pricey and we had just about used up the oil in our tank by about February. Needless to say it was a cooold end of the winter season in our house. We didn't want to pay to refill the heat because winter would be over soon and let's be real... we were broke from buying the house and didn't have the money to pay to have it refilled. So we lived on a couple of space heaters, a heating blanket, and a fireplace that seemed to only warm the area about 2 feet in front of it!
Everyone knows that cold weather can wreak havoc on your skin leaving it dry and scaly. During the winter months, hand lotions fly off the shelves along with chapstick and hair conditioner.
Well, with the combination of the cold from outside and the cool, dry air we had going on inside our house I experienced some dryness in the oddest place... MY EYELIDS! Has this ever happened to you???

(You are obviously supposed to disregard the terribly mismanaged brows going on. I'm working on growing them out to re-shape! :))

I inevitably remedied this obnoxious peely eyelids problem by lightly exfoliating my whole eye area with a warm damp wash cloth. Then I rubbled extra virgin olive oil on them before I went to bed each night for a couple days. They were better by the morning of day 3. Crazy though, huh?! That had never happened to me before!!!

CRAZY!!! I have never heard of lids peeling, but I am so glad that I now know how to take care of it! Your blog is super helpful!
Beautiful! Check my blog for your Beautiful Blogger Award x
omg! this happened to me around the crows feet area to me and I did not know what to do with the peeling :S I just left it how it was and applied some baby oil and it healed soon :)
Thank you, Lora! Such a sweetheart!!!
My hands were peeling this winter but I can't say I've ever experienced peeling eyebrows. As soon as I saw the peeling, I knew I was dehydrated and began increasing the water intake right away. A week or two later my hands were no longer peeling. Try that to see if it helps any.
Khalia, first off, you are drop dead gorgeous, seriously! I stumbled across your blog from an old comment you left on Mane and Chic like last August? I want to ask you about the Miconazole Nitrate. I am really anxious to try it, but I was wondering if you had any tips before I did??? I really don't want to tget the headaches everyone is talking about or possibly waking up bald:-/
Is there any helpful advice you can offer me? I'd like to get the product by next week! Thanks, Gorgeous
Thanks for the love, Christina! Sometimes I wonder why I posted half of these pix cause of course I think they're all awful! So its nice to hear maybe they're not so bad afterall! ;)
Ok so as far as the MN, I can obviously only say from my experience how it worked. I never had any breakage or shedding problems. When I first started with it, I applied it directly to my scalp daily. A week later I had unexplainable headaches that of course stopped after I stopped using the MN. But my growth rate had increased by 1/3-1/2 an inch a month. After that,I mixed it with castor oil, shea butter, and EVOO, and only used it every 3 days. That time there were no headaches. I stopped doing it because I had read somewhere that consistent use over a long period of time can cause scalp problems down the road because the MN removes healthy bacterias from your scalp as well. So I would do it for 2 months on, 1 month off, applying it every 3 days. I never had any problems. I only stopped doing it cause I wanted to try a no growth aids regimen.
crazy! when i peal i use Cetaphil lotion, i swear by it.
