Miss Body Butter Product Line Review

I have to say I love the first couple weeks right after Thanksgiving where everyone is gearing up for Christmas. The decorations come out, moods are lifted and SALES show up left and right. I love love LOVE seeing everything that's on sale! I'm a compulsive shopper by nature- a trait I've learned to suppress with age- but it's still fun to window shop.

I'm a fan of new things. Who isn't?! Being a fan of new things though, sometimes makes this a difficult time of year for me. For the next few months there will be a lot of internal battling, "Self control, Khalia. Self control!" However, at the moment, I'm actually feeling pretty good because I received a lovely gift of all natural, organic body care products from Miss Body Butter!

I'm a sucker for cutesy packaging that makes me feel like I just got a special present instead of a plain old box stuffed with a bunch of foam peanuts. Inside the Miss Body Butter box was the Aphrodite's Embrace Sugar Scrub, Tropical Oasis Salt Scrub, and Lover's Bliss Body Butter.

10% off my next purchase from missbodybutter.com is definitely always a nice touch!

As far as fragrance, the Tropical Oasis Salt Scrub was the best. I'm always partial to tropical, coconut-y type scents so I wasn't surprised that this was the clear winner for fragrance. As with most organic products, the oils had separated and settled at the top so I had to do a decent amount of mixing before I could apply it. The products came with what I had assumed was a tiny mixing spoon that I attempted to use, but it was a virtually pointless utensil. I have a feeling it may've been more for show than for function, so I just used my finger.

Sea salt based scrubs can be a bit more rough so you'll need a lighter hand with this product. I apparently forgot this at first and left the skin on my leg feeling a bit tingly and raw afterward. Oops! Overall, the Tropical Oasis Salt Scrub was nice. I wasn't highly impressed with it but it worked on a basic level. I would prefer smaller salt granules for easier application.

The Aphrodite's Embrace Sugar Scrub was just ok for me as far as scent. It reminds me of those scented oil perfumes that come in a vial with a roller ball for application. The sandalwood and jasmine really hang around in your nose with this scrub just like it does with perfume oils. When I first opened the jar the fragrance seemed pretty strong but it lightened up considerably once I started using it. However, my overall opinion of the scent was, "Eh.." If you're partial to the sandalwood, patchouli type of fragrances then you'll like it!

I preferred the Aphrodite's Embrace Sugar Scrub over the salt scrub because it was much easier to apply and I felt like it did a better job at exfoliating. As with the salt scrub, it also needed a lot of pre-mixing before use. I have to say that both scrubs were very oily which for me is usually a good thing since I have really dry skin. I like a product that leaves my skin feeling moisturized after I get out of the shower. Unfortunately, this will be a problem for those who really don't like to have any oily feeling on their skin. These oils aren't the type that just absorb into your skin and disappear. They stay behind locking in moisture. So if you hate the oily feeling, you may have to do a little "Lather. Rinse. Repeat." with your body wash after using either of these scrubs.

The Lover's Bliss Body Butter was my favorite of the 3 products. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The website description says the Lover's Bliss is "Often referred to as 'Happiness in a Jar' by satisfied customers, this rich body butter is a wonderful daily moisturizer for dry skin." Well, I can honestly say it left me happy! Again, for my dry skin, I need moisture to the max! My favorite thing about this Body Butter was that the next day, I could still feel the softness from it on my skin. Score! That never happens for me! My skin soaks up moisture almost immediately it seems. The initial texture of it kinda reminded me of when you press your finger into a smooth mound of play dough. Ahhh, I love that feeling! But then it melts into a more oily, moisturizing consistency. I wouldn't necessarily say "a little goes a long way" with this product but I also didn't feel like I needed to use half the jar on my whole body like with some oil based butters. (If you scroll back to the first pic in this post you can get an idea of how much I used after my shower.)

Unfortunately, my "lover" wasn't particularly "bliss"ful about the scent. He specifically described it as "weird" both on me and in the jar. The Lover's Bliss Body Butter is made with rose oil so it has a very rosy scent. In my opinion, that's exactly what it smells like and who doesn't like the smell of roses? Apparently, my husband! He's very picky though, and I like it so OH WELL!

To sum things up, I was decently pleased with the Miss Body Butter products. Will I purchase in the future? I'm thinking I may have to try the body butter again because my skin seemed to really take to it! But I think next time I'll go with one of the tropical scents instead and the same goes for the sugar scrub. I've already scoped out the selection and the Tropical Tease Sugar Scrub sounds intriguing! I probably wouldn't purchase the salt scrub again. But then again, I've never really been much of a fan of salt scrubs anyway, so take that with a grain of salt... (pun intended!)
